VGA_Less by Quantum Porcupine
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Graphics: 04 of 10 Why: Cute porcupines at the end, but two
animals does not a demo make.
Sound: 05 of 10 Why: A perfect (albeit Adlib) translation of
Tran's "Timeless" music.
Programming: 05 of 10 Why: Some nice ideas, but the frame rate was
just too slow, less than 6 fps
throughout most of the demo.
Extra: 07 of 10 Why: Emulating Tran's Timeless demo was a cute
idea.
Notes and Comments:
While the effects weren't there, the idea of translating another demo to
8086 was cute. (A shame it wasn't Unreal, though. :)
4.77Mhz by Joe Snow
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Graphics: 08 of 10 Why: Supports both VGA and Tandy graphics, has
a nice sketch of his Tandy, and those
screen shots are so nostalgic! I
thought I was the only one who
remembered Digger.
Sound: 10 of 10 Why: Not only is the music great, but it
supports either Tandy sound, Adlib
sound, or BOTH for STEREO. WOW.
Programming: 03 of 10 Why: Except for the sound programming (which
is reflected in the music score), there
wasn't really any effects except for
some palette manipulation. Also, why
were the screen shots cut off 80% of the
way down?
Extra: 08 of 10 Why: The music system, music quality, and
nostalgic screen shots totally took me
by surprise. This was really fun for
this old-timer to watch.
Notes and Comments:
Although I wish it had more graphical effects, this was exactly what I
was looking for. The Tandy + Adlib stereo was a very clever trick.

8086 feet under by ASMonger
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Graphics: 04 of 10 Why: Only one simple picture, but funny.
Sound: 00 of 10 Why: No sound!
Programming: 08 of 10 Why: The fastest code submitted. Plus, it
uses 160x100x16 in CGA.
Extra: 04 of 10 Why: Only one effect. It could've been a lot
more.
Notes and Comments:
Who the heck is ASMonger? In any case, what's provided is great, but
with only one effect, I can't rate it very high. Shadowlords'
"fast!.com" also proves that it can be done much faster. So why didn't
*he* enter the compo?! :-)
